ToyotaĀ Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
All vehicles have a set of warning lights that will appear on the dashboard to indicate different potential problems. Do you know what your car's service warning indicators mean? We've laid out ten common warning lights below, and what they mean, to help you inform yourself and keep your vehicle maintained.

Airbag Fault
An airbag fault warning light will appear if the airbag in your vehicle has failed to deploy during a collision. Sometimes this may happen in a very low-impact crash. It may also occur if there is a fault with the airbag, the wiring of the warning signal, or with the seatbelt indicator.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
The low fuel light will come on if your vehicle needs fuel. Generally, this happens if your gas tank is well below an eighth full. It would be best if you refueled as soon as possible

Oil Pressure Warning Light
If the oil pressure in your car is too low, this light will turn on. If you are in motion, park your car and check the oil level. If the oil level seems to be correct, but the light is still on, seek professional assistance.

Service Vehicle Soon
This warning light identifies a need to service your vehicle based on the total mileage of your car. The maintenance schedule of your particular model will determine at what number of miles this occurs. You should reset the light after completing the necessary maintenance

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
The TPMS warning light will appear if your tires have low inflation pressure. The light should go off after adjusting the tire pressure, but if it continues to appear, you may need to seek assistance from a dealer. The light will sometimes stay on if the warning signal has a wiring problem.

Slip Indicator
This warning light will come on if your tires begin to slip. When the light is flashing, the VSC, or vehicle stability control, and TRAC, or Traction Control, are working and traction can quickly be regained. However, if the light stays solid, or it continues to stay on after regaining traction, there may be a problem with the system.

Charging System Warning Light
The charging system light will come on if there is an issue with the battery circuit. If you are in motion when the warning appears, you may have a wiring problem. It could also indicate a broken fan belt. Professional help should be sought for this warning light.

Brake System
When the brake warning light comes, there could be a problem with the anti-lock braking system. The brakes should still function, but if the light comes on, you should seek professional assistance.

Open Door Warning Light
This light will come on when one of the doors or the trunk is not fully closed. Once you have checked that all doors and the trunk are properly latched, the light should turn off.

Coolant Level Warning
Your vehicle's coolant level is probably too low if this warning signal appears. This can be a major problem, indicative of the engine overheating, and you should immediately seek professional help if this occurs.
