How Often Should You Schedule A Tune-Up?
Regular tune-ups are important to keep your vehicle running smoothly and free from damage for as many years as possible. No matter the Toyota model you drive, it is essential to schedule service with the repair technicians according to the manufacturerās recommendations. Although this timeframe varies from one model to the next, it is generally recommended to service your vehicle at 15,000-miles, 30,000-miles, 60,000-miles, and again at 90,000-miles. Follow this recommended tuneup schedule to keep your vehicle in tip-top condition for the long haul.
15,000-Mile Service
Schedule service at 15,000-miles. This is a basic service that will inspect all of the components underneath the hood. The service technician should also inspect the tires for wear and rotate them if necessary. The service includes an oil change, a fuel filter change, and a battery and brakes inspection.
30,000-Mile Service
Service is necessary again at 30,000-miles. The same maintenance services are provided at this tuneup as your vehicle received at the earlier service. Additionally, the tune-up includes inspection of the transmission fluid and filter, inspection and replacement of the spark plugs and the spark plug wires, and a general inspection.
60,000-Mile Service
The 60,000-mile service includes the services provided at prior tuneups once again. The service technician should inspect the vehicle underneath the hood and the exterior. Itās also time to inspect the valves, hoses, and belts and likely, replace them. These components endure wear and tear and usually begin to damage at this age. Coolants should be checked at this service as well.
90,000-Mile Service
The 90,000-mile service is very important. Your vehicle has been operating for many years now and as such, needs a bit of extra attention at this tuneup. The service technician should provide a bit more attention so that you'll enjoy driving the vehicle for another 90,000-miles and beyond. Youāll receive the 60,000-mile services once again, plus belts and hoses replacement.
