Paralyzed Veterans of America-Central Florida Chapter

The Paralyzed Veterans of America Central Florida Chapter is a group of dedicated individuals who aim to improve the quality of life for their members. The work involves both education and advocacy in areas that impact paralyzed veterans in our local community. They serve those who were affected by a spinal injury or dysfunction. One of the main areas of focus is adaptive sports and other recreational activities, providing paralyzed vets with the opportunity to get outside and stay active.

Paralyzed Veterans of America is an organization that was founded by a group of veterans who had returned from World War II. Although their community was very grateful for their service, they had little to offer resources to those who have been paralyzed in combat. The group was formed to advocate for those with disabilities, funding medical research, and researching adaptive sports.

The Educational Scholarship Program has had a significant impact on our local community. It provides members with the opportunity to further their education and achieve their career goals. The Paralyzed Veterans of America Central Florida Chapter awards up to ten scholarships of varying amounts per year.

This organization is also an excellent resource for those who want to participate in advocacy. Their website has a concise yet thorough explanation of the current legislation that impacts paralyzed veterans in our area. They also make it easy to get in touch with your local representatives and senators.
