Electric vehicles are altering the course of human history. They are quickly gaining acceptance among most manufacturers. This includes Toyota, which has shown its support for electric cars by unveiling 15 new electric-powered concept cars.
The Prius is a Toyota product, but the company hasn't always been a proponent of fully electric vehicles. Previously, it preferred hydrogen fuel cells over electric vehicles, giving competitors like VW an edge.
By 2030, 100% of Lexus vehicles sold will be all-electric. It also plans to eliminate all combustion engines from these markets by 2035. The Lexus RZ crossover will kick off this project, which is scheduled for release in 2022 and will be shared with the future bZ4X and Solterra.
Lexus plans to provide an electrified SUV, sedan, and supercar using electric motors instead of a gas-guzzling V10 engine. Toyota only announced:
• Its 430-mile range
• Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in two seconds
• Solid-state battery technology
There will also be a full-size and compact crossover, an ultra-efficient tiny urban crossover, and a midsize sedan.
Toyota also unveiled three additional concepts, all of which were inspired by leisure vehicles. A pickup vehicle and the Compact Cruiser, a fresh take on the FJ Cruiser's off-road capability, were also shown.
Tacoma is Toyota's midsize pickup, while Tundra is the company's full-size pickup. Toyota's best-selling vehicle, the Tacoma, suggests that the concept shown at the event is a preview of a midsize truck. As of now, there are no full-size electric trucks in this sector. In the event that Toyota becomes all-electric, it hasn't said whether or not it plans to sell automobiles in both places.
On top of that, Toyota showed off two new van concepts, namely the Micro-Box and the Mid Box. The Micro-Box is the smallest of the three, and its name refers to its size. The company did not specify where these two prototypes would fit into the portfolio. However, they may target commercial segments like Toyota e-Palette or mile delivery.
